Ian Callum’s new design and engineering firm, CALLUM, has announced details of its first project, and it’s something close to Callum’s heart. The former Jaguar design boss’ first project is a thorough going over of one of his most famous designs: the Aston Martin Vanquish. The Aston Martin Vanquish 25 by CALLUM is being built with the backing of R-Reforged as one of its limited run editions fully endorsed by Aston Martin.
See, Callum doesn’t think the Vanquish was given a fair shot first time round and decided to give a limited run of 25 cars the facelift he feels it should have had in the first place. “It’s over 20 years since I first sketched the Vanquish and revisiting it is something I’ve wanted to do for some time. The Vanquish never got its second go, and I think it deserves that opportunity.”
The car has been given a through reworking, and now features bigger wheels, an all-in-one headlight (ditching the big ‘ol fog lamps of the original), a redesigned rear end, completely new rear lights, and other subtle touches.
The interior also got a refresh, with new seats, a completely redesigned centre console and instrument binnacle with dials designed by Bremont, a removable Bremont pocket watch, a new steering wheel, and improved luggage space where the rear seats would have been. You even get a set of Mulberry bags to go on the rear bench to go with your car. The changes are extensive, and stunning.
